Let’s hear it for the Farmers’ Markets!

We are so proud of the efforts farmers markets are making to safely provide food for the communities they support.

Their managers have been making herculean efforts to transform bustling markets into spacious, safe environments for the public to browse local produce without needing to worry about crowds. Last weekend we were so impressed by the farmers, producers, and managers of the market community working together to ensure all precautions were taken: limiting numbers of people within enclosed markets at any one time; 2m social distancing marked clearly on the ground, and plenty of washing and hand sanitising facilities.

These traditional markets, held in the open air, are unquestionably a safer way to buy food than supermarkets with their recycled air and narrow aisles. These markets are literally a life-line for producers and their customers.

So here’s to the managers and all those who have helped these vital markets go ahead. Thank you.

We’ll be at the following markets this weekend: Bath, Parliament Hill, Stoke Newington, West Hampstead, Pimlico, Wimbledon, Balham, Ladbroke Grove, Marylebone, Queens Park, Blackheath, and Borough Market.
